Client Interview Series
Have you wondered what’s it like working with Kristy Dooley Photography? I’m excited to be introducing a Client Interview series on my blog. While I could talk all day about what I hope the experience of working with me is like for my clients, it’s so much better to hear it directly from the source! I’m currently in the middle of my seventh year in business, and I’m lucky to have several families who have been with me since the very beginning. I absolutely love seeing families come back as the years go by. It’s a treat to see their kids grow behind my lens and such a great feeling that they continue to choose me to document their family’s memories.
Let’s Meet the Family!

This family is on my calendar for this upcoming weekend, and I’m so excited to photograph them for the fifth time. They have three amazing, (and fast-moving!) kids and another on the way. Their sessions are always full of games, laughter, and lots of movement. It’s so obvious how much love is in this crew, and it’s so fun to capture. I love that they are always up to try a new location. Their previous sessions have taken place at a local farm, their own home, the riverwalk, and in downtown Burlington. Their next session is scheduled at a local flower garden, as they requested a nature-based background this time.
The Interview
What is your favorite part of working with Kristy Dooley Photography?
Kristy and Genevieve are such a joy to work with! Kristy is amazingly patient with our family’s zaniness, and with three children there is always someone reluctant to smile or pose; she consistently provides beautiful shots that perfectly reflect the love we have for each other, despite our chaos. Turn around time for our session photos is always amazingly quick and we are impressed with how professional, individualized, and client-pleasing all of our interactions with KDP are.
What made you choose Kristy Dooley Photography to photograph your family?
We initially found Kristy through a recommendation from another photographer friend. We chose her to photograph our extended family back in 2015 as part of my parents’ anniversary gift. What could have been a stressful experience was made enjoyable by her flexibility (the weather was not really cooperating…), warmth, and enthusiasm! We have continued to use KDP to document our growing family’s milestones and we are always pleasantly surprised by how fun and easy each session is.
Did you have any apprehensions going into the session?
How did you feel about these once the session was done?
Professional photography is an investment – we definitely go into each session with worries, primarily about the weather and our kids’ level of cooperation. Kristy is some sort of children’s magician, and is always able to corral our unruly crowd! We have never left a family session unsatisfied. Kristy has also taken a headshot for me. I am NOT a fan of being in front of the camera, but she put me at ease and the result is both lovely and professional.
Who would you recommend Kristy Dooley Photography to?
We would recommend KDP to families who are looking for beautiful and artistic photographs capturing authentic loving and fun moments. She is also wonderful at putting individuals at ease in portrait sessions, whether the need is for professional headshots or high school senior portraits.
